Godspeed You! Black Emperor have announced a new album.
The follow-up to 2021's 'G_d’s Pee at State’s End!' is called 'No Title as of 13 February 2024 28,340 Dead' and will arrive on October 4 via Constellation.
Engineered and mixed by Jace Lasek and mastered by Harris Newman, the LP's title refers to the death toll of Palestinians killed by Israeli strikes on Gaza since October 7, 2023, as of February 13, 2024. A Bandcamp description of the project reads:
"THE PLAIN TRUTH==
we drifted through it, arguing.
every day a new war crime, every day a flower bloom.
we sat down together and wrote it in one room,
and then sat down in a different room, recording.
NO TITLE= what gestures make sense while tiny bodies fall? what context? what broken melody?
and then a tally and a date to mark a point on the line, the negative process, the growing pile.

while we sat together, arguing.

Alongside the news, the Montreal post-rock collective have shared the intense, seven-minute instrumental Grey Rubble - Green Shoots, which serves as the eerie, sprawling finale to the six-track LP. Press play below, next to the cover art and tracklist.
The band previously scheduled dates for their Liberation Autumn of '24 Tour, which launches on September 27 in Dublin, before stops in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and Coventry, as well as dates in Europe. They also have North American shows lined up for November and spring 2025.
