The Smile have announced their third studio album.
'Cutouts', their second full-length release of 2024 will arrive through XL Recordings on October 4, following up 'Wall Of Eyes', which came out in January. It was recorded by Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner in Oxford and at Abbey Road Studios during the same sessions as its predecessor.
Alongside the announcement, the trio have shared two new tracks, Zero Sum and Foreign Spies. The former features some frenetic guitar and percussion over rhythmic electronic effects, while the latter is a more dreamy affair that's guided by Yorke's unmistakable vocals floating over mesmerising synths. Both arrive with videos by audiovisual artist Weirdcore
Earlier in August, the band released two other cuts from the record, Don’t Get Me Started and The Slip, as a limited edition two-track 12" through record shops, with the former eventually landing on streaming platforms.
The 10-track project also features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra, and cover art painted during the recording process by Stanley Donwood and Yorke. Take a look below.
'Cutouts' tracklist:
1. Foreign Spies
2. Instant Psalm
3. Zero Sum
4. Colours Fly
5. Eyes & Mouth
6. Don’t Get Me Started
7. Tiptoe
8. The Slip
9. UGcgWGFkcWE=
10. Bodies Laughing
