Laura Marling has released another song from her new album, 'Patterns In Repeat'.
Child Of Mine follows on from last month's single, No One's Gonna Love You Like I Can, and Patterns, which arrived in July. Like Marling's previous singles, the dreamy, acoustic folk track was penned after the birth of her daughter in 2023. Continuing with themes of responsibility and parenthood, the lyrics emerged while, “bouncing my daughter in her bouncer when she was four weeks old,” the singer-songwriter explained.
"I hadn’t sat down to write. It’d been a while since I’d picked up the guitar, just to pass the time, so maybe that did the trick," she continued. "I wrote the lullaby soon after and thought 'OK, maybe I could make a record this year.'"
The follow-up to 2020's 'Song For Our Daughter' will arrive on October 25 via Chrysalis/Partisan Records. Marling will support it with intimate residencies at London's Hackney Church between October 29 and November 2, and New York's Bowery Ballroom on November 10, 11 and 12. Tickets are on sale now.
