Sharon Van Etten has announced an album with her new band, The Attachment Theory.
The singer-songwriter and her band — Jorge Balbi, Devra Hoff, and Teeny Lieberson — will release the self-titled record on February 7 via Jagjaguwar.
Created with producer Marta Salogni at Eurythmics' former London studio, The Church, it'll feature the newly shared lead single, Afterlife, a gothy, synth-laced rock track. Head below to view the accompanying Susu Laroche-directed black and white video. On how the project came together, Van Etten said in a statement:
"For the first time in my life I asked the band if we could just jam. Words that have never come out of my mouth – ever! But I loved all the sounds we were getting. I was curious – what would happen? In an hour we wrote two songs that ended up becoming I Can’t Imagine and Southern Life."
Van Etten and band will support the record with a UK and European tour in February and March, with stops lined up in Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Paris, Antwerp, Amsterdam, London, Manchester, and Glasgow. Special guest Nabihah Iqbal will support, and tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Wednesday (October 30).
Van Etten's most recent album, 'We've Been Going About This All Wrong', was released in 2022.
