The Amazons have laid out plans for their fourth studio album.
'21st Century Fiction', the follow-up to 2022's 'How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me?', will arrive on May 9. It was recorded between Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Wiltshire, Chapel Lane Studios in Hereford and The Retreat in Brighton. Frontman Matthew Thomson said:
"[The record] comes from the frustration of being in that place where my 20s were ending and being really cognisant of that. Self-flagellation; always wondering what’s around the corner, always scolding myself for not matching up to some unattainable ideals of what it means to be a successful band or even just a man."
The Reading trio collaborated with producers Catherine Marks and Pete Hutchings on the project, while Royal Blood frontman Mike Kerr helms the track My Blood, which also features drums from his bandmate Ben Thatcher.
Alongside news of the record, The Amazons have shared its second single, Pitch Black, a dark, bluesy rocker. It follows Living A Lie, which was released in September.
