Robbie Williams has dropped a new single, Forbidden Road.
Co-written by the pop icon with Freddy Wexler and Sacha Skarbek, and produced by Dan Romer and Wexler, the reflective acoustic pop ballad will feature in Williams' upcoming musical biopic, Better Man.
The accompanying soundtrack will be released digitally via Columbia Records on December 27, with physical formats to follow at a later date that's still to be confirmed. The film, in which Williams is portrayed by a CGI monkey, will be released in cinemas on December 26. Commenting on the concept, director Michael Gracey said:
"Robbie would say things like, ‘I’m up the back dancing like a monkey.’ After a while, I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing to represent Robbie as a monkey in the film?’ Because Robbie is telling this story – and that’s how he sees himself."
Check out a trailer for the film below, along with the 'Better Man (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)' tracklist and cover art, a spin on the cover of Williams’ 1997 album 'Life Thru a Lens'.
The 50-year-old recently announced an extensive European tour for the summer, which includes shows at Edinburgh's Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, London's Emirates Stadium, Co-op Live in Manchester, Bath's Royal Crescent, Dublin's Croke Park and a headline appearance at the inaugural Come Together Festival in Newcastle.
His latest album is 2022's 'XXV', a compilation celebrating his 25 years in music, featuring re-worked and orchestrated versions of tracks from his discography.
