The None have announced a new four-track EP.
The quartet, comprising vocalist Kai Whyte (Blue Ruth, Youth Man), bassist Gordon Moakes (Bloc Party, Young Legionnaire), guitarist Jim Beck (Cassels) and drummer Chris Francombe (Frauds), will release 'Care' exclusively via Bandcamp on February 14. As with their debut, they recorded everything live.
To coincide with the news, the band have shared a new single, On Automatic, which offers catchy melodies among blistering noise-rock. Introducing it, they said:
"There was some uncertainty when we started writing this one. We thought the main riff might be a bit too ‘jock-rock’. Thankfully Gordon and Chris came up with some interesting parts which changed the feel and helped build tension. Once Kai added their vocals, it quickly became one of our favourites to play live."
Beck added: "I think we’d only done around three or four practices with Kai when we recorded the first EP. It was pretty seat-of-the-pants stuff. This time we had a much clearer idea of who we are as a band, and how we wanted everything to sound."
The None put out their first EP, 'Matter', in August 2024, following their debut shows in February of that year.
They'll support The Jesus Lizard at London's Electric Ballroom on January 11, before a run of headline dates in February and March. They'll also appear at Portals Festival at EartH, London on May 24, Bearded Theory festival in Derbyshire the next day, and Deer Shed Festival in Yorkshire on July 25. Tickets are on sale now.
