Rise Against have released their second single of the year, Prizefighter.
Arriving via Loma Vista Recordings, and produced by Catherine Marks, with mixing by Alan Moulder, the fired-up track offers the Chicago band's signature melodic, fist-raising punk sound. Frontman Tim McIlrath said:
"Prizefighter is about a compulsion to create, that then creates an audience, and then your connection with that audience and your responsibilities to that audience, and how much an artist is obliged to that audience. It's trying to reconcile the shift from spectator to the public arena, and what you owe the people that are your fans versus what you owe your own mental health."
It follows the group's January single, Nod, which marked their first new material after a three-year hiatus.
Rise Against are currently on the road supporting Papa Roach on the spring North American leg of their Rise of The Roach Tour, with a second round of dates scheduled for the fall. They'll also return to this year's Vans Warped Tour, performing at the Long Beach dates in July.
The summer will also see them embark on a European tour, which features a number of festival appearances, including a slot at Download in the UK in June. Tickets are on sale now.
Rise Against's latest album, and ninth overall, 'Nowhere Generation', was released in 2021, followed by the 'Nowhere Sessions' EP later that year, and the 'Nowhere Generation II' EP in 2022.
