Neil Young Announces New Tour Documentary Coastal And Companion Live Album

Neil Young has announced a new tour documentary and an accompanying live album.
Coastal was directed by the Canadian singer-songwriter's wife, Daryl Hannah, and offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at Young's solo Coastal Tour in 2023. Following its premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival last October, and the West Coast premiere last month at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, it'll be screened at select cinemas across the United States for one night only on April 17. "With Coastal I wanted to highlight Neil’s authenticity, openness and vulnerability as a person, musician and performer. He is as pure and honest as they come. Deeply devoted to his musical muse, which at times presented a challenge in capturing the songs, as we never knew what he might play or what instruments he’d pick up next. But what we were able to capture has an unpretentious magic that reveals the truth, sentiment and emotions in these hidden gems as well as a close up look at a performer who plays from the heart with a total lack of pretense."
Alongside news of the film, Young has confirmed that on April 18 he'll release 'Coastal: The Soundtrack', a companion live album that includes 11 stripped back versions of tracks from his discography recorded live during the tour. It'll be available on black vinyl, CD and digital formats, and is produced and mixed by The Volume Dealers: Neil Young and Niko Bolas.
It was previously announced that Young and his new band The Chrome Hearts — Micah Nelson on guitar, Corey McCormick on bass, Anthony Logerfo on drums and Spooner Oldham on Farfisa organ — will play this year's Glastonbury Festival. They'll also play Dublin's Malahide Castle on June 26, and headline London's BST Hyde Park concert series on July 11, with support from Yusuf / Cat Stevens and Van Morrison, plus more that are still to be announced.
The performances will be part of the wider summer European leg of Young and band's Love Earth Tour, which also features stops across North America in August and September. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts shared their debut single, Big Change, in January. In February, Young dropped a previously shelved album, 'Oceanside Countryside', the latest release in his Analog Original Series (AOS).
