Damon Albarn has reportedly put together a supergroup for a concept album to be released in the New Year.

The Blur frontman and Gorillaz' Murdock character has been working on the London concept album, titled 'The Good, The Bad and The Queen', which takes a wry look at life in the English capital.

The new project doesn't have a confirmed name as yet but will feature Albarn along with The Clash bass player Paul Simonon, drummer Tony Allen and former Verve band member Simon Tong. Music Producer Danger Mouse is also said to be working on the project.

The supergroup are planning on releasing their debut single this October, with the album following in January 2007. What this means for the future of Blur is yet to be confirmed.
