Irvine Welsh Directs New Keane Promo Video

ImageKeane have teamed up with Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh to make his directorial debut for the bands new video, which will be available on the 'Net next week.

Welsh is a big fan of the boys, and while recording the song 'Atlantic', the band approached Welsh to help them direct a promo video for the track.

'Atlantic' will be available to download on April 21st, and will give fans the first exclusive preview of the bands new creative direction.

Tom Chaplin said of the project: "It's a claustrophobic, foreboding song that takes you straight into the eerie world of our new album."

"We met up with Irvine in the studio as ‘Atlantic’ was coming together. We talked and felt he was the ideal person to put our song into pictures. He in turn felt that Atlantic could prove the perfect soundscape for his directorial debut. The result is a dark artistic statement that adds a new dimension to the song."

"We wanted everyone to have something special from the album before it comes out, something that sets people up for the mood of ‘Under The Iron Sea’, so we chose to make this a video download."

The short film will be aired exclusively on Channel 4 on April 21 at 11:30pm before being made available as a download through the 3 Mobile network.

The film will also be available to download online through iTunes from April 25.

The first single to be released from the new album will be ‘Is It Any Wonder’, and is released on May 29th. The new album ‘Under The Iron Sea’ is out two weeks later on June 12th.
