You wouldn’t recommend it as a name for a band, but melodic US soulsters, Boyz II Men, have done okay for themselves and, after a wee vacation, are back. Made up of Nathan Morris, Wayne Morris and Shaun Stockman, the boyz firmly grabbed the 90s by the romantic dangly bits with hits like ‘I’ll Make Love to You’ and ‘End of the Road’. Back in ’89, they were called ‘Unique Attraction’ (you can see why they changed it) and weren’t famous. To correct this, the band snuck backstage at a Bell Biv DeVoe concert and performed an acappella song at Michael Bivins. Instead of having security kick them out, Bivins put plans in place to contract them to Motown Records. Result.
They went on to win several Grammys, score a clutch of number ones and become the best-selling R&B group of all time. ‘Love’, the new album by Boyz II Men is set for release in November.
