The Modfather Paul Weller is in the final stages of preparing his new solo album, ‘Wake The Nation’, for release on April 12th.
Paul Weller came into the spotlight as lead singer for Mod band The Jam, mixing an outspoken punk attitude with his love of 1960’s pop and soul. Creating a unique English song writing method, the front man quickly stood out from his peers. The iconic star has continually raised the bar on expectations of what he can achieve with a career that has now spanned thirty years and has seen him become a musical institution.
The singer gained huge acclaim for his returning album ’22 Dreams’ in 2008. The album was a lengthy concept offering but played a big part in Weller becoming the oldest winner of ‘Best British Male’ at the BRIT awards. Touring heavily ever since, Paul Weller has still found the time to record a new album. The new material has been aired at some recent gigs and has been described as being firmly fixed to the 1960’s, but with an experimental vein.
The new album, ‘Wake The Nation’, has been confirmed for release on April 12th, and will include a song recorded with Bruce Foxton - Weller’s partner in The Jam. Featuring a variety of artists also set to appear is Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine, The Move’s Bev Bevan and session drumming legend Clem Cattini. A single is due to precede the album on 5th April.
