Stone Temple Pilots New Album and New UK Shows & Tickets

Stone Temple Pilots, one of the most talented yet troubled groups to emerge from the 1990’s, have announced – in addition to their Download Festival performance - two UK shows for June.
The post-grunge band from San Diego with the power and glory of 70s stadium rockers are now officially back in action with a new album and new shows on the way. With their already confirmed performance at Download Festival being hugely anticipated by rock fans, the band have now announced they will follow up their festival appearance with two shows in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre (14th June) and London’s Brixton Academy (16th June).
The band’s sound can be described as a mixture of modern alternative rock with an injection of 1970’s hard rock. Now creating a form of arena rock, their early albums resembled a strong grunge influence, with more recent albums including elements of psychedelic and glam rock. The trademark guitar sound from Dean DeLeo is still ever-present however, with its “crunchy”, distorted blast.
The new album is expected at the end of May 2010, which will be just before STP’s visit to the UK. Hands up those who are already really looking forward to the new live material! Having sold over 35 million albums to date, the new album’s title is simply ‘Stone Temple Pilots’ and not some cheesy comeback title like ‘Back In Business’ or something similar. That only works for AC/DC!
