Blues-rock duo The Black Keys have announced details of three UK shows set to take place in June and July this year.
The Black Keys are an alternative rock duo from what is sometimes referred to as 'the Mecca of weirdness’, Akron, Ohio, USA. They gained inspiration for their name from a schizophrenic friend, who dubbed those he mistrusted or disliked as “The Black Keys”.
Dan Auerbach vocalist and guitarist, and drummer Patrick Carney mix neighbouring Detroit punk rock with the more distant North Mississippi jukebox rock to create some slabs of low-fi, blues driven music that shuns bass and sounds all the more harder for it. Their music has gained them huge attention for the raw driving guitar sounds and howling vocals framed by the thunderous drums from Carney.
On June 23rd, the pair will perform at London’s Roundhouse, before returning for two more gigs in July, at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on the 8th and Manchester Academy on the 9th.
Their sixth studio album is also set for release later this year with final preparations being made for the album ‘Brothers’ to be released on May 17th. The duo’s last record was 2008’s ‘Attack & Release’.
The Black Keys will play the following UK dates:
June 2010
23rd Roundhouse, London
July 2010
8th O2 Academy, Birmingham
9th Manchester University
