Spain & Liverpool striker Fernando Torres as revealed his love for British indie titans Kasabian, and how he hopes the band can help his team to achieve World Cup glory.
After Argentinian playmaker Lionel Messi revealed his admiration for Oasis last month, Torres has gone one up on Messi be divulging his off-the-field victory.
The £70m rated football superstar Torres told British tabloid The Sun, "I read that Messi had discovered Oasis and was listening to them before World Cup matches, so I texted him to say that, while Oasis were good, Kasabian were the best British band since The Beatles".
"He replied saying 'No chance!' So I texted back saying that I bet Kasabian take Spain further than Oasis do Argentina. I have already won that bet, but I'm now backing them to help Spain win the World Cup."
Messi revealed that he had been playing Oasis tracks on the Argentina team bus, before exiting the competition to surprise package Germany in the quarter finals last weekend. Torres is hoping to go one better with Kasabian track 'Club Foot'.
"For nearly a year now we have been playing 'Club Foot' in the dressing room before every Spanish international", he confirmed.
Spain go head-to-head with Germany on Wednesday night for a place in the World Cup Final. So can Kasabian help Spain lift the World Cup? For our love of Kasabian alone, we hope so.
