Last Updated: 21 Mar 2022 3:53pm
Daddy Yankee—real name Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez—is a reggaeton singer, songwriter, actor, rapper and record producer from Puerto Rico.

Initially starting out with aspirations to become a professional baseball player, he turned to music after being shot in the leg. Often considered a pioneer in the genre, his first official studio project, 'No Mercy', was released in 1995. Since then, he has expanded his discography to hold a total of six studio albums, with a seventh due to drop in 2022, in the shape of 'Legendaddy'.

In 2017, his track Despacito became the first Spanish-language song to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since Macarena in 1996, hit a billion views on YouTube in less than 100 days, and made him the first Latin artist to become the most listened to artist worldwide on Spotify. His success had not gone unnoticed by the industry, winning 82 awards from 270 nominations since his rise to international fame in 2004, including six Latin Grammys.

Daddy Yankee has announced his retirement, which he will celebrate with a farewell tour of North America in August and September 2022. Catch him live by checking tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.
