Starting his comedy career in 1991, he launched his TV series Chappelle's Show in 2003, which ran until 2006. He's also appeared in a number of high-profile films such as The Nutty Professor, Con Air, You've Got Mail and in the 2018 version of A Star Is Born featuring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

With regards to his stand-up, he is widely considered to be one of the most hard-working in the business, racking up more than 1,600 concerts worldwide in the four years prior to 2020. His efforts have earned him a host of awards, honours and accolades, including five Emmys, three Grammys and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.
