John Carpenter is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, editor and composer, from Los Angeles, California.
He directed his first movie, ‘Dark Star’ in 1974, for which he composed the score, which he followed with ‘Assault on Precinct 13’ in 1976. His most famous film, ‘Halloween’ came out in 1978. Other movies and film scores of include ‘Escape from New York’ in 1981, ‘The Thing’ in 1982, and ‘Big Trouble in Little China’, in 1986. He won a Saturn Award for Best Music for ‘Vampires’ in 1998. He released his debut album, ‘Lost Themes’, in 2015, and its follow-up, ‘Lost Themes II’ in 2016. Carpenter released 'Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998', a collection of his compositions, in October 2017 via Sacred Bones. The world renowned director and composer will bring his Anthology tour to London, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester this October, performing both classic movie themes and material from his two 'Lost Themes' albums.
