John Prine was an American country-folk singer-songwriter from Maywood, Illinois.
Starting his musical career in the early '70s, he went on to release 18 studio albums, as well as several live albums and compilations, including his 1971 self-titled debut album, ‘Common Sense’ in 1975 and the Grammy Award-winning 'Fair & Square’ in 2005. His last studio record was 2018's 'The Tree Of Forgiveness'. Throughout his career, he was recognised as one of the most influential artists of his time. In 2020, Prine was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy Awards. Notably, in 2015, he was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame to honour the historical significance of his music. On April 7, 2020 John Prine passed away at the age of 73 from health complications related to the coronavirus pandemic.
