Marisa dos Reis Nunes - best known to us as Mariza - is a Portuguese singer-songwriter and musician born in 1973. Becoming interested in music such as jazz and soul in her younger years, she would later - thanks to encouragement to her father - embrace a more traditional Portuguese style known as fado.
Today, Mariza’s music has made her one of the genre’s leading modern figures, whilst she is of course prominent in world music too.
