Mayhem are a Norwegian black metal band based in Oslo. Formed in 1984, the group consists of five fittingly-named members - Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila Csihar, Teloch and Ghul.
One of the pioneering names of the black metal genre and one of Norway's first black metal bands, Mayhem would endure a controversial early period that has since cemented their place in black metal history - from their violence and gore filled live shows, to the suicide of their former frontman, Dead, and the murder of one member (Euronymous) by the now infamous Varg Vikerness, aka Burzum. They released their debut LP, 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas', in 1994, and have since put out a further five studio albums, with the most recent being 2019's 'Daemon'. Due to COVID-19, Mayhem have rescheduled their UK and European Northern Ritual Tour MMXXII with Mortiis to spring 2022.
