Joy Division were an English post-punk outfit hailing from Salford, Greater Manchester. Formed in 1976, the band consisted of frontman Ian Curtis, guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris.
Despite the band only existing four years before their singer tragically committed suicide (on the eve of their first ever US tour), they would go on to make a mark on British music history thanks to their two LPs, ‘Unknown Pleasures’ and ‘Closer’, and singles like Love Will Tear Us Apart. New Order was formed out of the ashes of Joy Division, creating another iconic UK band. Peter Hook and the Manchester Camerata orchestra will present The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated at concerts in London and Manchester, rescheduled to October 2022.
