Riverdance is a touring theatrical dance show which involves a shedload of traditional Irish step-dancing.
Originally composed by Bill Whelan, a local Irishmen from Limerick, for the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, the first performance at the contest took place during an interval, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd and remains as one of the competition’s most memorable moments of all time. Since then, it’s been taken over by husband and wife team John McColgan and Moya Doherty and converted into an on-going stage show, with audience numbers now tallied well into the millions. Riverdance will celebrate 30 years with a World Tour, which hits the UK and Ireland between June and December 2025, following an Australian trek in April 2024 and North American dates in spring 2025. Riverdance History and Biography
Riverdance is a touring theatrical dance show which involves a shedload of traditional Irish step-dancing.
Originally composed by Bill Whelan, a local Irishmen from Limerick, for the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, the first performance at the contest took place during an interval, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd and remains as one of the competition’s most memorable moments of all time. Since then, it’s been taken over by husband and wife team John McColgan and Moya Doherty and converted into an on-going stage show, with audience numbers now tallied well into the millions. Riverdance will celebrate 30 years with a World Tour, which hits the UK and Ireland between June and December 2025, following an Australian trek in April 2024 and North American dates in spring 2025. riverdance getting tired
edinburgh playhouse on November 9 2014
I have been at both Blackpool, 24th Oct performance and Edinburgh 9th Nov. Dancers were fantastic at both venues, one of my favourites are the Russian dancers which we saw at Blackpool they were noticeably missing from Edinburgh and I felt the evening finished like a damp squib much as I love the singing and the musicians they are overtaking the dancing which is what i go to see. I really felt let down last night, usually when we leave Riverdance (we have been about 12 times) we are on a high, now I will think twice about booking one show never mind two or more.
