Sanctuary are an American thrash metal outfit hailing from Seattle, Washington. Formed in 1985, the group consists of four original members - frontman Warrel Dane, guitarist Lenny Rutledge, bassist Jim Sheppard, and drummer Dave Budbill - alongside new guitarist Nick Cordle.
Originally running from 1985 to 1992, a period which saw them release two full studio albums including 'Refuge Denied' and 'The Mirror Black', Sanctuary would return to our ears in 2010, and go on to release a new album, 'The Year the Sun Died', in October 2014, via their new home Century Media. Sanctuary released their fourth studio album beginning of 2017, which acted as a prequel to the band's debut album. Now in 2019 after the passing of legendary singer Warrel Dane, the band is back with new material in the works. Sanctuary are set to tour the US in 2019 with singer, Joseph Michael of Witherfall in tow, performing their 1988 debut album 'Refuge Denied' in its entirety for this run.
