Steve Winwood is a British singer-songwriter and musician from Birmingham, best known as a member of band such as The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith, as well as his solo career.
Starting his music career in 1963, backing artists such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker, Howlin' Wolf and B.B. King. He joined Spencer Davis Group, leaving in 1967 to form Traffic. In 1969 he formed Blind Faith, with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Ric Grech, and was a member of Ginger Baker's Air Force. Launching his solo career in 1977, with the release of his self-titled debut album, the record hit #22 in the Billboard Hot 200. It was his second album, ‘Arc of a Diver’, in 1980, which gained him bigger success, reaching #3 in the chart. ‘Talking Back to the Night’, in 1982, ‘Back in the High Life’, in 1986, and ‘Roll with It’, in 1988, all hit the Top Twenty. He released his ninth studio album, ‘Nine Lives’, in 2003. Steve Winwood played shows in Bristol and London in July 2017, and is next set to head across the US in February/March 2018, on his Greatest Hits Live tour.
