American progressive metal band Symphony X consists of Michael Romeo (guitar), Michael Pinnella (keyboard), Jason Rullo (drums), Russell Allen (vocals) and Michael Lepond (bass).
Formed in 1994, Romeo (Phantom's Opera and Gemini) recorded the album ‘The Dark Chapter’ with Pinnella, which attracted major attention in Japan. Rullo was recruited along with bass player Thomas Miller and vocalist Rod Tyler. Their self-titled debut album was released the same year, followed by ‘The Damnation Game’ six months later, during which time Tyler left the band to be replaced by Allen. The band’s third release, ’The Divine Wings of Tragedy', saw the band’s biggest commercial success. After the fourth album, ‘Twilight in Olympus’ Miller left to be replaced by Lepond. The band have released another four albums, as well as a live album, ‘Live on the Edge of Forever’. Symphony X released their ninth album, ‘Underworld’ in July 2015, and have since toured the US, Australia, Europe and the UK. Symphony X now have lined up UK and European live dates for May and June. The extensive trek will include the New Jersey proggers' first return to the UK in three years, with stops lined up in Coventry, Holmfirth and London.
