'Tubular Bells' is the debut album from Mike Oldfield, a musician from Reading.
Oldfield was just 19 years old when he recorded the album, playing almost all the instruments on the record himself. He shot to prominence after its opening theme was used in The Exorcist soundtrack, and has gone on to become a hugely influential figure in British music. The album even became one of just 10 classic album covers commemorated on special UK postage stamps in 2010. The iconic album is often celebrated with a special live tours, conducted and arranged by Oldfield’s long-time collaborator Robin Smith. An interesting re-imaging of a classic piece

St David's Hall witnessed this concert last night (3rd February) - what a special rework of this modern classic! The musicianship was extraordinary. We loved the interaction between the players, their enjoyment was obvious to all. The sound balance was not quite right for the first part of the concert, we struggled to hear what was being played by the older gentleman on lead guitar. Much better for the main event-Tubular Bells- which was spectacular. One suggestion - please could someone talk to the audience to introduce some of the pieces in the first part of the show?
