Gyptian, is the stage name of Windel Beneto Edwards, a Jamaican reggae singer, from Kingston.
Active on the music scene since 2003, he started singing in church when he was young. His parents noted his talent and introduced him to Mr.Wong, a record producer from Portmore, St.Catherine, who along with Earl Chinna Smith, helped Gyptain shape his sound. The singer has been dominating the Jamaican charts ever since, and has achieved a far amount of crossover success in the American Billboard charts, with albums such as 2006’s ‘My Name Is Gyptain’, 2008’s ‘I Can Feel Your Pain’, 2010’s ‘Hold You’, ‘Sex, Love & Reggae’ in 2013, which entered the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart at number one.
