The Duke Spirit are a indie rock band from London, consisting of vocalist Liela Moss, guitarists Luke Ford and Toby Butler, bass player Marc Sallis and Olly Betts on drums.
Formed in 2003, under the name Solomon, the band released a 7”, before changing their name and releasing their first EP, ‘Darling, You’re Mean’, in 2003, on City Rockers. They released their debut album, ‘Cuts Across the Land’, in 2005, via Loog. The Duke Spirit signed to You Are Here in 2007, and then collaborated with UNKLE on the track Mayday. Their second album, ‘Neptune’ didn’t arrive till 2008, which came shortly before guitarist Dan Higgins left the band, which caused a reshuffle with Butler switching to guitar and Marc Sallis joining the band on bass. The band’s third album, ‘Bruiser’, was released in 2011 and their fourth album, ‘KIN’, in May 2016. The band are set to release their latest album, ‘Sky Is Mine’, on August 18, 2017. The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK, and have supported Ted Leo & The Pharmacists in the USA and played Coachella Festival. The Duke Spirit is set to play UK shows in London and Manchester this August in support of ‘Sky Is Mine’.
