Yo Gotti, born Mario Mims, is an American rapper from Memphis, Tenessee.
He began his music career around the age of 14, rapping as Lil Yo, affiliated with DJ Sound and his crew. In 1996, Gotti released his debut album 'Youngsta's On a Come Up' under the alias Lil Yo. He went on to release 'From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game' in 2000, 'Self-Explanatory' the year after, 'Life' in 2003, and 'Back 2 da Basics' in 2006. His major label debut, 2012's 'Live from the Kitchen' came out through RCA Records. Its lead single 5 Star peaked at #31 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number 22 on the Hot Rap Songs charts. He soon decided to split ways with the company after his album was under shipped leaving fans without albums. Gotti is founder of record label Collective Music Group (CMG, formerly Cocaine Muzik Group), whose first official release was his sixth album, 2013's 'I Am', followed by 'The Art of Hustle' in 2016 and finally, his latest, 'I Still Am' in 2017. He has collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Mike Will Made It, and has headline his own shows and tours all over the US. Yo Gotti has announced a brace of summer UK shows.
