Youssou N'Dour is a Senegalese singer, songwriter, composer, actor, businessman, and politician, who's been an active musician since the 1970s. He is well known in that part of the world as the most famous person alive in Senegal and much of Africa.
Having been performing since the age of 12, N'Dour started his first group the Étoile de Dakar in 1979. They were extremely popular. By 1991, he had opened his own recording studio, and, by 1995, his own record label, Jololi. He had a poltical position in the 2010s, and has been an activist for many causes throughout his life. His debut solo record, 'Bitim Rew' was released in 1984. Since, he's released over 30 albums, the latest being 2017's 'Seeni Valeurs'. During his career, N'Dour has collaborated with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Sting, Neneh Cherry, Wyclef Jean, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman, Dido, Lou Reed, and many more!
