Amadou & Mariam are a musical duo from Bamako, Mali.
Made up of husband and wife Amadou Bagayoko and Mariam Doumbia, the pair formed the band in 1983 after meeting at Mali's Institute For The Young Blind several years earlier. Playing traditional Malian music, they have released eight albums to date—including 2008's Grammy-nominated 'Welcome To Mali' and their most recent studio serving, 2017's 'La Confusion'—and have landed support slots for the likes of U2 and Coldplay.
