American Football are a midwest emo band from Urbana, Illinois.
Formed in 1997, the band released their self-titled debut album in 1999 before splitting the following year. As time went on, the record—and particularly the track Never Meant—gained a cult following across the world, with the band regaining a new wave of popularity in the early 2010s. They reunited in 2014, putting out a second self-titled release in 2016, and a third in 2019. American Football will headline Sunday at Outbreak Festival in June 2024, before they celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album with UK shows in September and US dates later in the fall.
