Anathema are an English rock band from Liverpool, Merseyside, consisting of brothers, Vincent Daniel and Jamie Cavanagh, siblings Lee and John Douglas and Daniel Cardoso.
Formed in 1990, the band released their debut album, ‘Serenades’, in 1993, as a doom metal band, but changed their direction to gothic metal for their second release, ‘The Silent Enigma’, in 1995. The band broke into the UK Albums Chart with their fifth album, ‘Judgement’, in 1999. They released their latest album, ‘The Optimist’, in June 2017. They followed with a greatest hits record titled 'Internal Landscapes (Best Of 2008-2018)'. Anathema have rescheduled their UK and European tour dates to January 2021 in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
