Based in Islington, London, Arsenal Football Club was founded in 1886 by a team of munition workers' from Woolwich, then in Kent.
Having turned professional in 1891, they become the first club from the south of England to join The Football League two years later. They reached the First Division in 1904 and have only been relegated once, in 1913. To this day, they maintain one of the longest streaks in the top division, and have won the second most top-flight matches in England football history. They've won 13 league titles, a record 14 FA Cups, two League Cups, 16 FA Community Shields, and one European Cup Winners' Cup, among others. Their longest-running rivalry is with the nearest major neighbours, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, with matches between the two referred to as North London derbies.
