Billy Joel is a singer-songwriter and pianist from The Bronx, New York.
Starting his music career in 1965, he is known also for his time in the bands The Echoes and The Hassles. The latter group disbanded in in 1970, and he released his debut solo, ‘Cold Spring Harbor’, the following year. Today, he's one of America’s best-selling solo artists, having sold over 150 million records worldwide, toured across the globe and won six Grammy Awards. He has released 13 albums across his career and is known for tracks such as Piano Man, Just the Way You Are, My Life, It's Still Rock and Roll to Me, We Didn't Start the Fire, Vienna, Uptown Girl and The River of Dreams. Billy Joel has rescheduled his Liverpool and Edinburgh stadium shows to June 2026. He also has North American dates planned throughout 2025 (several of which have been rescheduled), including co-headline shows with Sting, Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart. Still buzzing from the concert on Friday July 7th. Having seen other artists his age be a small fraction of their previous selves I was dubious, but Billy still holds a tune as well as he did in the eighties and it was truly one of the best live performances I've seen in a long time. Saw Billy live first at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, he was held up coming from London but he
insisted on playing for the length of time planned the organisers had a very late night. Saw him again last year at Birmingham LG Arena at 64 he puts the young ones in the shade. Non stop for how long I don't know.

Pitch perfect and still thoroughly entertaining

Fabulous show, it just could not be faulted. Excellent setlist, which just flowed brilliantly - Piano Man was worth the ticket price alone! Billy gave some amusing banter in between songs, telling stories of his younger days. His voice is still pitch perfect and an excellent musician. His backing band were also top class. Although the show was in a larger venue, the atmosphere was still electric. Hopefully he turns his attention to recording some new music soon!

I would have listened to Billy Joel perform all night if I could. The most disappointing part of the concert was the fact he was unable to fit all his songs in. The show was fantastic, the sound was fantastic, his back band were outstanding. Billy's voice is still crystal clear - an remarkable feat for someone who is 64 now - and he remains to be a phenomenal pianist and all round performer. So glad I had te opportunity to see him live.

Manchester Phones 4u Arena on October 29 2013
Billy Joel played out a string of hits at Manchester's Phones 4u Arena and not one disappointed. Piano Man was as brilliant as it was 40 years ago and songs such as Only The Good Die Young, Allentown, Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway, Where's the Orchestra? And Scenes from an Italian Restaurant just showed how much of an excellent showman Joel is. His biggest hit, Uptown Girl, brought the house down and had me up on my feet dancing in the aisles! We can only hope that one day soon he releases some brand new material!
