Cardiacs are an art rock band from Kingston-Upon-Thames.
Known for their unique concoction that fuses baroque pop, prog-rock, post-punk with circus and medieval music—also including anything from nursery rhymes to sea shanties—the band have amassed as huge cult following since their 1977 inception. They have released six albums to date, with the most recent being 'Guns' in 1999, going on indefinite hiatus in 2008 after frontman Tim Smith suffered a major heart attack. He passed away in 2020, with the band announcing their return to the stage in 2023 in his honour. Cardiacs play The Garage London on May 4, 2024, in tribute to the late Tim Smith.
