Chelsea FC Tickets, Fixtures & Matches in 2024/2025Last Updated: 12 Jan 2023 11:03am
English football club Chelsea was founded in London in 1905 by Gus Mears, an English businessman. He had earlier bought the Stamford Bridge athletics stadium and was looking to turn it into a football ground. Mears originally offered the ground to neighbouring Fulham Football Club, but they refused his offer, with Murs deciding to form his own club, Chelsea, named after the borough adjacent to Fulham.
Their home ground, Stamford Bridge, is one of the oldest football grounds in England and has been the home of Chelsea Football Club since their formation. They are nicknamed "the Blues" as the club's colours have always been predominantly blue. Chelsea has long-standing rivalries with several other clubs, mainly within the London area. The West London derby is the name given to a game played between any two of Brentford, Chelsea, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers, all of whom are situated in West London. Chelsea are one of only a handful of clubs to have never been relegated from the top flight of English football. Domestically, they have won six league titles, eight FA Cups, five League Cups, and four FA Community Shields. Internationally, they have won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup twice each.
