Cornelius Crane "Chevy" Chase is a controversial American actor and comedian. Born in New York, he worked a variety of jobs before moving into comedy and began acting.

He became a key cast member in the debut season of Saturday Night Live, where his recurring fake news Weekend Update segment soon became a staple of the show. As both a performer and writer on the show, he won three Emmy Awards.

Chase had his first leading film role in the comedy Foul Play in 1978, earning himself two Golden Globe Award nominations. Further, he is well known for his portrayals of Clark Griswold in five National Lampoon's Vacation films, and Irwin "Fletch" Fletcher in both Fletch and Fletch Lives in 1985 and 89.

Other prominent titles include Caddyshack, Seems Like Old Times, Spies Like Us, ¡Three Amigos!), Memoirs of an Invisible Man, Orange County and Hot Tub Time Machine, all throughout the 1990s-2000s. He briefly had his own late-night talk show, The Chevy Chase Show (1993). He played the character Pierce Hawthorne on the NBC comedy series Community from 2009 to 2012.

Despite his illustrious acting and comedy career, he is something of a love-hate figure in the media, The Telegraph describing Chase as having "insulted and assaulted co-workers, spouted racist, misogynistic and homophobic views, and been described, even by those who tolerate him, as a delusional egomaniac." He's had both verbal and physical spats with many TV personalities, but some fans love his deadpan style of humour.
