Silver Columns - Yes, And Dance (Album Review)

This UK electro-pop duo has caused quite a stir with their debut Yes, and Dance by surprising critics and audiences alike. The reason for this is that the dance community does not know the two members, Adem Ilhan and Johnny Lynch, for their musical contributions or, most likely, for anything else. This is because the former plays bass in a post-rock/electronica outfit and the latter is a folk singer/songwriter also known as Pictish Trail.

INTRODUCING: Black Circles (Ex-Death in Vegas Founders)

London power-trio Black Circles release their gloriously melodic debut single "Little Girl" on August 19th.

The track combines the valve fuzz of QOTSA with the blistering pop melodies of early Biffy and Silversun. Not afraid of damaging your ears or getting their songs stuck in what lies between them, the band are both ambitious and demanding of themselves as songwriters and musicians.

Foals - Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff - 24/06/2010 (LIVE REVIEW)

For the second time in two months, I am deaf, dizzy and totally hoarse - or should that be foal? I thought there could be nothing like the Nottingham gig I revelled in a month or so ago on the "Total Life Forever" tour, but the Oxford indie-math rockers not only seem to never fail to deliver, it appears their live shows just continuously swell with glorious intensity as their music develops further poignancy and the madcap intellectuals at its centre mature into equines in the prime of their youth - there is no stopping Foals.

Monkdopf - 'Deaf House' - (EP Review)

Monkdopf - 'Deaf House' - (EP Review)

Mondkopf is an electronic producer from France who has remixed works by such artists as Golden Filter, Grand National, Johnny Cash and Pony Pony Run Run, who we reviewed earlier this week. His sound is intense, electrifying and has Ibiza dance floor written all over it. I am assured his live sets are astounding, which we will have chance to witness when he brings his performances to the UK very soon.

This release, Deaf House, is a 4 track EP, filled with electronic mastery, trance rhythms and deep, intense bass. It is a collection of huge, fantastically well produced dance tracks that send you on a euphoric trip. Watch out for Mondkopf, I am sure some of his tracks will be making their way onto DJ sets in nightclubs all over the globe.

JET Return For Special One-Off London Gig & Tickets

After a successful tour across the UK last year, Aussie rockers JET will return this summer for a special one off show at London O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on Sunday 18th July.

Their 2009 UK tour, supporting their latest album 'Shaka Rock', was the first in 3 years for JET who have established themselves on an international stage selling over 4 million albums worldwide.

'Shaka Rock' closed the gap between the raw roots of 2003's breakthough record 'Get Born', which featured the singles 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' and 'Cold Hard Bitch', and the grace and melody of 2006's 'Shine On'.

INTRODUCING: The Beautiful Word

The Beautiful Word are a quintet set for the top in the world of mystery pop. And why not claim the throne of a genre they invented?

Formed in January 2007 by front girls Emily and Megan, who began singing harmonies for each other's tunes - their twinkly pretty little songs hushed even the rowdiest of open mic nights. They have since grown into a big whack of beautiful sound with added punch from the noise boys - Nelson on guitar joined first, followed by Gruff on the drums and then Scotty on bass in early 2008.

They are releasing a brand new 6 track EP this month, June 2010, simply titled "Mystery Pop".

Stereoboard Interview nu metal group, earthtone 9

Earthtone9, were a nu-metal group, formed in 1998, who really took off after their 2000 album arc’tan’gent. It is ten years since that release and to celebrate that anniversary the group have released a 16 track greatest hits compilation, entitled, Inside Embers Glow, the group are also embarking on a small tour and playing at this year’s Damnation Festival. I interviewed the group’s singer Karl Middleton, to find out more about the revival and see why it all went wrong in the first place, back in 2002, when seemingly things were going so well.

The group have often been asked about getting back together, there where stumbling blocks in the way for the group including fall outs within the group, “the main personality clash in the band was between Owen (Owen Packard - the bands guitar player) and Si (Simon Hutchby – the band’s drummer) so it depended upon them becoming friends again.” All that is in the past though and the band have put aside any earlier fall outs to get together and perform again.
