The Drums Part Ways With Guitarist Adam Kessler.

Adam Kessler has decided to quit indie-pop band The Drums. Speaking on their website and facebook page, the band made the announcement, saying that they are “devastated” by the news.

“There have been some questions as to recent events and we are sorry to say that Adam has left The Drums. Jonny, Jacob and Connor are devastated and are keeping to themselves and with friends at this time”.

The band are currently midway through an extensive North American tour, which they will continue. There has been no announcement yet regarding whether or not the band will seek out a permanent replacement to Kessler.

It has not been the best week for The Drums, who were criticised heavily by Manic Street Preachers’ Nicky Wire in an interview with NME: "There is literally no soul in that band. They've taken nothing from the depth or poetry or amazing lyrics of Ian Curtis, they've just taken his kooky dance. The whole generation is attired in American Apparel, there's no individualism anymore."

The band released their self-titled debut album earlier this year, where it achieved a top 20 place in the UK album chart. In January the foursome also secured fifth place in the BBC's Sound Of 2010 poll.
