Details have surfaced that Paul Rodgers, best known as the frontman for classic rock bands Free and Bad Company, has announced a UK tour for 2011. Hitting UK venues in April 2011 Paul “The Voice” Rodgers has signed up Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott and his new band Down 'N' Outz as special guests on the tour.
Following a five-year collboration with Queen, 2009 saw Paul Rodgers announce he was ending his role as the new Queen frontman and later revealed he would join the other surviving members of Bad Company for an eight-date UK tour in April 2010. Following the hugely successful tour, the singer has now been linked to featuring on a Paul McCartney tribute album that is also rumoured to feature contributions from Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, BB King, and KISS. The tribute album has been planned for a late 2010 release, although there is no news a specific date yet.
Joe Elliott, best known for his vocals in 80's rock group Def Leppard, has also been keeping himself busy. Playing in the Mott The Hoople related cover band Down 'N' Outz, the group, that also includes members from The Quireboys and Raw Glory, released their debut album 'My Generation Vol.1' on July 13th and followed up with a DVD release of the band's show at the Hammersmith Odeon.
Ten tour dates have now emerged, revealing that Rodgers and Elliott will kick-off their UK jaunt on April 15th at Blackpool's Opera House. The tour then visits venues in Shffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham, Bournemouth, Westcliff-on-Sea and London before closing with a show at Birmingham's NIA on April 28th.
