Neil Young has confirmed he will appear at this summer's Glastonbury.
In a since deleted post on his website, the renowned Canadian-American singer-songwriter had initially said that he would not be playing the world-famous festival due to the involvement of the BBC, who “wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being.”
However, Young has since retracted and removed that statement, confirming that he and The Chrome Hearts — Corey McCormick (bass), Anthony LoGerfo (drums), Micah Nelson (guitar) and Spooner Oldham (B3 Hammond Organ) — will perform at the festival. A statement on his website reads:
"Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there!"
The news has now also been confirmed by organiser Emily Eavis, who posted the news to Instagram: "What a start to the year! Neil Young is an artist who’s very close to our hearts at Glastonbury. He does things his own way and that’s why we love him. We can’t wait to welcome him back here to headline the Pyramid in June."
To date, the only other act to be confirmed for this year's event is Rod Stewart, who will play the Pyramid Stage in the prestigious "legends" slot
