In 2010 Dr Martens celebrated its 50th anniversary as one of the world's most popular clothing and accessorie brands.
To celebrate the milestone, a compilation album has been released involving contemporary acts remixing or covering classic tracks with specially created videos to mark the release of each track. The album featured some unique material from artists including the Noisettes doing Buzzcocks, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club doing The Pogues, Dam Funk doing Human League and loads more.
Check out the video to the Noisettes' cover of Buzzcocks' Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)' below.
Most famous for the range of footwear, the first Dr. Martens boots in the United Kingdom came out on 1 April 1960 (known as style 1460 and still in production today), with an eight-eyelet cherry-red Nappa leather design.
They were popular among workers such as postmen, police officers and factory workers. By the early 1970s, skinheads started wearing them, and by the late 1980s, they were popular among punks, some New Wave musicians, and members of other youth subcultures.
To help celebrate the 50th anniversary, Stereoboard have announced a competition to win a special pair of Black Limited Edition 1460 Dr Martens boots – signed by none other than punk trailblazers MC5 and DOA!
