Spike Jonze's Arcade Fire Film To Debut At Berlin Film Festival

Spike Jonez’s short film centred around Arcade Fire’s ‘The Suburbs’ will be premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film was unveiled in a shortened version as the promotional video for the Arcade Fire single, however the director has now confirmed that the whole piece will be shown at the festival next month.

Entitled ‘Scenes From The Suburbs’, the film is a progressively dark look at the environment of youth. Speaking to Pitchfork about the project, lead singer Win Butler said: "We played Spike some music from the album and the first images that came to his mind had the same feeling as this idea for a science fiction film I had when I was younger. My brother and I and Spike wrote it together, which was really fun: it was like total amateur hour."

The Berlin International Film Festival runs from February 10th-20th.

Meanwhile, Arcade Fire’s website has recently been named the best website of 2010. The Web Awards Organisation awarded the band top prize at their Favourite Website Awards (FWO’s). The bands interactive ‘Wilderness Downtown’ site earned top prize from the organisers, and they are (apparently) the voice that counts. A spokesperson (and clearly a humble one) described the awards as “...the most visited website award program in the history of the internet.”
