London-based solo artist Alessi Laurent-Marke – aka Alessi’s Ark – is to release her second album ‘Time Travel’ on 25th April. The album is the follow-up to her 2009 debut ‘Notes from the Treehouse’, which was released when Alessi was 18 years old.
‘Notes from the Treehouse’ was produced by Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes. Alessi’s Ark has also performed alongside a number of other artists including Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons and Villagers.
‘Time Travel’ was recorded between Electric Studios in Brighton and Bryn Derwen in Wales. Alessi recently described how this process gave the album its name: “In Brighton, we did 12-hour days and had no idea what was going on in the outside world. In Wales, there was no phone signal and it felt far away from everything.”
‘Time Travel’ is the first Alessi’s Ark album to be released on Bella Union records. Going on to speak about the album itself, Alessi said: “This is a collection of songs that have mostly grown from travelling and touring, away from the familiarity of home, family and friends.”
