Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has explained the controversial photographs shown in the Sun newspaper last week.
The photos, which were presumed to show Doherty injecting heroine into an unconsious Laura McEvoy, are said to be part of an exhibition on blood paintings.
Doherty's 'Literary Agent' Paul Roundhill revealed: "Blood paintings are something he has done for a long time. I think they help explaining the photograph of Laura. It shows he does blood paintings. "
Apparently Doherty has being doing Blood paintings for some time now, and hopes to display them in a London gallery with price tags of around £1000 each.
Roundhill also revealed he has let doherty use his blood for a painting, commending Doherty for being very careful and even using a new syringe.
He added, "He was very careful, he used a new needle. Pete has become very good at using the syringe, either scratching it on to the paper or spraying an area.
"It creates an effect a little like a Ralph Steadman cartoon."
Doherty revealed in a posting last weekend that the photos were "staged" and stolen from his London flat.
