Phil Collins Explains Retirement, But Still Feels Loved

Phil Collins has spoken out about his recent claims that fans grew to hate him, in an attempt to set the story straight.

The singer and drummer had talked of his retirement from the industry, in which he went on to say “I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm sorry that it was all so successful. I honestly didn't mean it to happen like that. It's hardly surprising that people grew to hate me.”

However, the pop legend has now taken back this statement, insisting that he is grateful and knows he will still have fans after his departure from the music business.

“I'm not stopping because I don't feel loved; I know I still have a very large fan base that loves what I do. Thank you.

“I'm not stopping because I don't fit in. This was proved with 'Going Back' reaching No. 1 in the UK, and doing incredibly well worldwide.”

He also claimed that the statements he made previously about his ‘outcast’ feeling towards the music scene were taken out of context and were a mistake
.
“Some of the things mentioned above have been said by me in various interviews, but said as asides with a smile on my face and in passing. They were not meant to be headlines; they were small parts of a conversation. This clearly doesn't come over in print and I should know better.”
