Veteran metallers Iron Maiden are to provide support for victims of the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan by donating money raised from the production of a special t-shirt. Proceeds from the shirts sale will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross.
The t-shirt was designed for the two Tokyo shows Maiden were scheduled to play this week but were cancelled after North Eastern Japan was hit by a huge earthquake and tsunami in the early hours of Friday morning (March 11th) UK time.
The shirt features Eddie riding a demonic horse into battle brandishing a blood soaked sword with the bands logo across the top on the front, while the back shows a graphic of Eddie dressed as a Japanese warrior along with the text ‘Japan 2011. The Final Frontier’.
The shirt has had the tour dates removed from it to maintain the ‘trophy value’ of any shirts bought from the gigs.
Iron Maiden are currently part way through their huge World tour in support of their latest album ‘The Final Frontier’. After a brief stop in the UK last summer to headline Knebworth’s Sonisphere festival they will return this summer for a full arena tour.
The special edition t-shirt is available from the bands official website here
